You have the ability to customize the message with every gift invitation that you send. We recommend you take advantage of this opportunity so that you can make a strong impression on the recipient.
We know that your time is precious which is why Alyce allows you to create templates that you can use to quickly customize messages for each of your recipients. For more details on setting up templates, take a look at this article.
In general, there are some best practices that we recommend keeping in mind as you create your templates and create your invitation messages:
The shorter the message, the better.
We understand that you might have a lot to say to the recipient, but if it’s more than a couple sentences, chances are that your recipient won’t read it. You don’t want a long message to get in the way of your recipient enjoying the experience of receiving a personalized gift.
Alyce wants to be your best friend when it comes to gifting, so we did some research on the length of messages that seem to be the most effective. We found that messages should attempted to be kept to under 300 words, and ideally under 250 words. That might seem challenging at first, but usually messages under this length have higher rates of the gift being accepted. We've developed some messaging samples for you to use. Check them out here.
Remember to fill in placeholder text (if using templates).
Alyce's templates make it easy to send personalized messages. We want to remind you not to forget to fill in the placeholder text in templates. Please remember to review the message before sending the invitation to make sure that all placeholder fields have been filled in.
Focus on the recipient, not yourself/your company.
We encourage you to keep in mind that the invitation is not a place for you to share your company sales pitch. Rather, it is a way to generate a meaningful connection with the recipient.
Accordingly, we suggest that you stick to making the message about the recipient, such as highlighting a recent promotion they received, something their company might be experiencing, etc. For examples of how to do this, please take a look at messaging samples.
Avoid bullet points or numbered lists.
If someone sent you a gift, would you want them to list out bullet points/a numbered list with their company's value proposition? We would venture to guess that the answer is probably "no."
With this in mind, we recommend that you do not use bullet points or numbered lists in the invitation note. You want the message to come across as being genuine, which usually does not include bullet points or numbered lists.
We already tell the recipient that they have the power of choice - no need for you to say it twice!
Alyce allows your recipient to have the power of choice by giving them the option of accepting your gift, exchanging it for something else on the Alyce marketplace, or donating it to a charity of their choice. Alyce conveniently includes these choices on the back of the gift invitation card (as seen below), so there is no need for you to also.
There is no reason to be worried about your recipient exchanging their gift for something else.
